A classic checkers game in your browser
Play a free game of checkers online against the computer or switch to two-player mode and pass the device to a friend. This familiar diagonal strategy game rewards careful planning: capture opposing pieces, protect your own, and reach the far edge of the board to crown a king.
How to play checkers
- Choose Play computer to play against the computer, or Two players for a local match. Red moves first.
- Select one of your pieces, then select a highlighted square to move diagonally forward.
- Jump over an adjacent opponent piece to capture it. Captures are required when available, and you must finish a chain of jumps.
- Reach the opposite end of the board to promote a piece to a king. Kings can move and capture diagonally in either direction.
- Win by capturing all opposing pieces or leaving your opponent with no legal moves.
